What is United for ALICE?
United for ALICE is a national initiative aimed at understanding and addressing the needs of households that are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed (ALICE). The ALICE population earns just above the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) but less than what it costs to make ends meet.
This movement works to shed light on the struggles of ALICE families and to develop strategies and partnerships that can support their financial stability.
National Scope and Mission of United for ALICE
United for ALICE operates on a national scale, collaborating with various organizations, businesses, and government entities to collect data, promote awareness, and drive systemic change.
The primary mission is to provide a comprehensive understanding of financial hardship and to advocate for effective solutions that can uplift ALICE households across the country.
Partnership with Aloha United Way
Aloha United Way represents Hawaiʻi in the national United for ALICE movement. Through The AUW ALICE Initiative we work with our local partner agencies and ALICE sponsors to provide critical data, collaborate on solutions, and implement programs that support ALICE households in Hawaiʻi.
